My frequent snack attacks sometimes seem to be the only consistent part of my week. It was when I was up to my elbows in Ruffles chips and dill pickle dip (sorry sis, I can't help but bring you down with me on this one) that I realized I seriously needed to reassess my snacking options. Enter an easy DIY treat that will bring back sweet childhood memories- strawberry fruit leather.
It's simple to make and requires only four ingredients; strawberries, sugar, lemon juice and water (hardly an ingredient). The recipe I used says to bake the fruit leather in the oven, but we used our food dehydrator.
Last June, my helpful hubby rolled up his sleeves and made over 150 bags of cinnamon-sugar dried apples for our wedding favours with this trusty dehydrator.
For fruit leather, you simply cook the ingredients, blend 'em up, pour the sticky goodness into the dehydrator trays, and wait patiently for six hours. Voila, you've made fruit leather! You can find all the details here on, Tasty Kitchen, a recipe sharing blog created by none other than The Pioneer Woman.
Cut the pink, fruity treat into strips and enjoy. Fruit leather is tasty and healthy, and got me inspired to put the dehydrator to more use. Stay tuned, I'll be tackling beef jerky soon. Happy snacking, friends.

Sounds amazing! I might have to try this in our oven. :)
