We kept things relaxed and simple, but with many DIY details. The venue was our family's restaurant and we enjoyed a set menu of surf and turf. We covered long tables in kraft paper, provided crayons for the (big and little) kids, and displayed handmade wildflower arrangements in collected tin cans. It was lively and fun, complete with a photo booth.
My girlfriend, Mindy, planned a similar laid back affair for her recent rehearsal dinner. It was a Mexican fiesta themed evening- a nod to the groom's California roots. There was a taco bar, festive beverages and a pinata for the (big and little) kids. I was tasked with decor for the evening, so I started by making colourful garland from tissue paper.
In lieu of fresh flowers, I handmade paper flower poofs to set on terra cotta pots and Mexican chile and tomato cans.
It was a relaxed and memorable night. Exactly what a bride and groom need the night before their big day. Here's to the lovely couple! Ole!
