Basil, mint and thyme. That's all it took for Chris to rediscover his inner gardener. He'd told me very unenthusiastic stories about hours in the garden as a child picking peas, beans and carrots. His mom would be proud to see him now, talking to his beloved herbs, constantly checking their moisture and sun exposure, relocating them inside and outside.
I can only give him credit for this post. How creative to combine his precious herbs with his passion for ice cream. Homemade ice cream, of course. The kitchen is where I often find him on his days off, and I have no complaints when treats like Chocolate-flecked fresh mint ice cream and Strawberry-basil sorbet are churning in our house. The recipes came from Sweet Scoops and the ice cream maker is by Cuisinart, both from Williams-Sonoma.

Your inspiration for today is to try growing your own herbs (it's actually way easier than Chris likes to admit) and to try making your own ice cream (also super easy and cost effective if you have a mad Ben and Jerry's addiction). I love summer and nothing beats fresh herbs infused in ice cream. Homegrown and homemade.

Sounds just like my man! He roams the garden for hours tending to the plants!
The ice cream sounds unreal!!
xo
Those both look incredible!
I love fresh herbs! I have about 50 basil plants growing on our patio (my plants went to seed last year, and I planted the seeds this year, not knowing if they'd grow... they all did!), along with mint, oregano, chives, sage and parsley. I love the idea of using some of them to make ice cream, as that's one of Tim's major food groups. :) Oh, and I love love love to make iced tea with herbs (mint is my favorite - mom used to make that growing up, so in addition to being yummy and refreshing, it's got that nostalgic feel to it).
I wish I had an ice cream maker! I may have to resort to this -
